With different power capacities and use cases, it is important to have someone well versed in starting up a commercial generator. In this video, Jordan from CellSite Solutions describes the intricate process of revving up a commercial generator.
As you will quickly notice, a thorough pre-operational check is one of the most important aspects of the whole process.
The first step of the check is to always check the essential fluids, starting with a standard oil check and coolant check. One should also take this time to check for any leaks in all the coil hoses on a commercial generator.
At this stage, it is important to check the condition of your air filter to make sure your generator will run optimally. Once this is done, check the moving parts of your generator: the generator’s belts. All you need to do is remove the shrouds and check the belt tension as well as look for any frays or cracks.
It is always a good idea to have a printed checklist on hand for this pre-operational check. But, it doesn’t hurt to commit the basics to memory and make the most of your generator.
